Basically it’s a new way to interact with video. Once I move to my new hometown in the next few weeks, (NYC hopefully) I want to try and get my multi-touch box up and running for real…instead of in a cardboard box and try and implement something like this.
An earlier project I made this year was an interactive menu for a night club in Miami called “Sense“. The idea was to create something that was interesting to use, fun and would get people talking. A few weeks before that I saw surface, which was the inspiration for the project. The menu I designed for Sense was just a concept presentation but I got really interested in multi-touch surfaces and start doing some research. It turns out that building one of these things is easier than you’d think.
For my senior project I decided I was going to build one of these things so show off some of the interactive/motion work I’ve done over the past couple of years. Here’s the first images & video I’ve taken from my ghetto set up that I just got work a couple of weeks ago. I’ve still got a long way to go to have a real functional version of this, but the tests so far have worked out.
