It’s about that time….Time to leave college. Finally. My senior art show is tomorrow. SO, of course to go out with a bang my class decided to do something that hasn’t been done before and hang out work from the ceiling instead of putting it on pegboards (which was the usual).
Over the past few years I’ve been playing around with 3d apps. Playing is the key word. The first 3d program I started experimenting with was Bryce 3d…that will date me. If that’s not enough of a throw back, then telling you I learned web animation using a program called Director, and using “Lingo” instead of actionscript should give you an idea of how long I’ve had my eyes glued to my monitor night after night.I’ll get to the point after the jump. This weekend I went to went to San Marcos, Texas to take part in Creative Summit. Out of almost 2,000 entries from 256 portfolios my sustainability PSA got into the show of just over 100 entries.
I also come home with ”the coveted memorial ralph award” for my entry. If you consider that the last trophy I received was for tee-ball, I was pretty happy to come away with a pig trophy.
An earlier project I made this year was an interactive menu for a night club in Miami called “Sense“. The idea was to create something that was interesting to use, fun and would get people talking. A few weeks before that I saw surface, which was the inspiration for the project. The menu I designed for Sense was just a concept presentation but I got really interested in multi-touch surfaces and start doing some research. It turns out that building one of these things is easier than you’d think.
For my senior project I decided I was going to build one of these things so show off some of the interactive/motion work I’ve done over the past couple of years. Here’s the first images & video I’ve taken from my ghetto set up that I just got work a couple of weeks ago. I’ve still got a long way to go to have a real functional version of this, but the tests so far have worked out.
